Exhibition: Seeing with your feet – The Carpet in Contemporary Art

Exhibition: Seeing with your feet – The Carpet in Contemporary Art
They come in all imaginable colors, shapes and variations: high pile, Persian, fur, oriental, hand-knotted, woven or machine-produced. The long history of the carpet is always closely linked to the history of mankind: for example, it says something about our sedentariness, our relationship to space, or even our hospitality.

In addition to highlighting the historical and social junctures, the exhibition „Seeing with your feet – The Carpet in Contemporary Art“ (27 Feb - 22 May 2022) enables one thing above all: a sensory experience for all. The artists in the exhibition engage with a medium with which we probably all associate a memory. In the exhibition, these memories can be released or even expanded through new perspectives. In this way, the exhibits remain identifiable not only as inanimate „things,“ but offer a starting point for sensory reflection on the past, present, and future.

In contrast to other interior trade fairs such as the Salone del Mobile and Heimtextil, there will be no special "summer edition" of Domotex in Hanover. The fair is to take place from 12 to 15 January. This results in a new sequence of days. The first day of the fair will now be a Thursday, and Domotex 2023 will end on a Sunday.

Balta Annual Report 2021 with ups and downs

How is Balta doing? The conference call on the financial year 2021 was awaited with particular excitement - not least because of the sale of various business units to the British Victoria Group.

Balta CEO Cyrille Ragoucy, Transformation Officer Ruben Tattheeuws and CFO Jan-Christian Werner looked back on an eventful 2021: consolidated turnover increased by 12.9% to EUR 634.3 million. Area rugs (Balta Home) increased by an impressive EUR 50.7 million, the residential segment by EUR 14.2 million and the contract segment by EUR 7.6 million. Consolidated adjusted EBITDA rose by 28 % to EUR 87 million: Balta had budgeted for price increases early on, even before the increased cost of materials took hold. At 1.5 %, fixed costs were only slightly above those of the previous year.
