Domotex: Apply for the Green Collection Award now

In 2024, sustainability will once again be a central theme at Domotex. The Green Collection special event and the associated awards will be entering the second round. Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Eco-friendly Products, Healthy Products, Sustainable Production and Social Responsibility. Manufacturers - including companies that are not exhibiting at Domotex - can apply until November 17, 2023. Information about the Green Collection Award and the link to register can be found here.

Kika/Leiner: Restructuring plan for insolvent furniture retailer accepted

Creditors of insolvent Austrian furniture retailer Kika/Leiner have approved a restructuring plan, preventing the company from going into liquidation. The restructuring is already underway: the number of stores has been reduced from 40 to 17, the workforce has been more than halved from around 3,900 to just under 1,800 and the product range has been streamlined.

Restructuring: Tejo's becomes Roller

Tessner and the XXXLutz Group have decided to merge eleven Tejo's SB Lagerkauf stores with the Roller furniture store chain. Roller, a joint venture of Tessner and XXXLutz, could thus strengthen its position as one of the leading furniture discounters in Germany, according to a press release. Six Schulenburg furniture stores and Tejo's SB Lagerkauf Schleswig will become part of the XXXLutz Group.

Weaving the future - historical carpet fragments on a world tour

For a long three and a half years, the Pergamonmuseum in Berlin will be closed for renovation work. The affiliated Museum of Islamic Art with director Stefan Weber and curator Anna Beselin is using the break for an elaborate joint project called "Cultural X Collabs / Weaving the Future": the reproduction of a Caucasian dragon carpet from the 17th century, which was partially destroyed during the Second World War, was cut up on 23 September 2023 as part of a public celebration. 100 fragments passed into the hands of selected actors who will take them on the road during a period of four weeks to six months to pass them on to other "temporary owners". As first owner, Carpet Home editor-in-chief Tim Steinert was allowed to personally cut his fragment out of the carpet.

Flanders Flooring Days even bigger and more European

The Flanders Flooring Days trade fair invites you to Belgium from 13 to 16 May 2024. For the third time, flooring suppliers will present their new products in showrooms in and around the Flemish city of Kortrijk. The central showroom "The Hub" on the Kortrijk Expo site is brand new: the exhibition hall offers space for exhibitors from all over Europe, who can book stands of different sizes here. Carsten Gähle retired

Carsten Gähle has been in the carpet business for 43 years - most recently in the management of the full-range flooring company Otto Golze, which he joined in January 2012. Gähle was performing his tasks with heart and soul, with a clear and realistic view and an open mind. He started in the furniture business, working for the chain store Porta, and later held a positon as Sales Manager Germany for the Dutch designer carpet supplier Arte Espina for many years.

XXXLutz to take over Conforama in Spain and Portugal

WM Holding GmbH and CAFS Invest, both affiliated companies of the XXXLutz Group, have reached an agreement with the current owner, the Ibex Group (the successor from the restructuring of the Steinhoff Group), to take over Conforama Iberia (Spain and Portugal). The brand name and look and feel will be retained and will be managed by a separate local management team. After the participation/acquisition of Conforama in France and Switzerland, the commitment in Spain and Portugal was the logical next step. The planned acquisition is subject to approval by the competition authorities.

XXXLutz delists Home24 from the stock exchange

RAS Beteiligungen, LSW and SGWImmo, three companies around the XXXLutz Group, have successfully completed the delisting offer for all outstanding shares of Home24 on 20 September 2023. As the Austrian company now announces, the companies around XXXLutz now hold around 95.96% of the current share capital of Home24 and the shares can no longer be traded on the regulated market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Jysk reports record sales

Jysk's sales increased by 6.3 percent to DKK 38.5 billion (€5.2 billion) in the fiscal year 2022/23 (September 2022 to August 2023). The largest national market is Germany with 960 stores. Here, too, a record result of €1.172 billion (+5.3%) was achieved.

Object Carpet: Roland Butz passed away

It is with deep sadness that Object Carpet announces the death of its founder Roland Butz. He passed away on 8 September 2023 in Zurich at the age of 82.

Roland Butz founded Object Carpet in 1972 and shaped the world of the carpet industry with his passion for design and quality. With his special flair for colour designs and innovations, he set new standards in the industry and established Object Carpet as a premium brand on an international level.
