Rieter successfully completed the acquisition of Barmag on February 2, 2026. The company will be integrated into the group as the new "Man-Made Fiber" division, led by Georg Stausberg. While Rieter specializes in spinning systems for staple fibers, Barmag provides equipment for the production of filament yarns. This merger is significant for the carpet industry, as Barmag systems using the BCF (Bulked Continuous Filament) process form the technical basis for synthetic carpet yarns. The fusion creates a system provider covering the entire machinery range from fiber preparation to finished yarn. The transaction was financed through a previously completed capital increase and bank loans.
