Koelnmesse is expanding its event portfolio and will take over the operation of Design Post Köln effective 1 January 2027. The previous permanent showroom concept of the listed location, which spans more than 3,000 sqm, will be discontinued as of 31 December 2026. According to Gerald Böse, Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse, the company is responding to structural changes in the exhibition landscape and new requirements within the furniture and interior design industry. In future, the venue will be flexibly integrated into the existing trade fair and event architecture. However, the historic platform will remain open for interior design formats as well as design and art-related exhibitions. The previous owner, Wim van Ast, founded the Design Post more than 20 years ago and established it as a major meeting point for international brands. Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, emphasizes that the furniture industry will continue to be offered space here for new, flexible event formats.
