Egyptian carpet manufacturer Oriental Weavers generated a net profit of more than EGP 1 billion (around EUR 17.1m) in the second quarter of 2026 – the first time it has passed that mark within a single quarter. Revenue rose 13% year-on-year to EGP 7.0 billion (around EUR 119.9m), while EBITDA climbed 18% to EGP 0.9 billion. Net profit reached EGP 1.1 billion, up 98% on the same quarter last year, with the margin widening to 16.1%.
The company attributes the growth to international sales, particularly in the US and Europe, an improved product mix and pricing adjustments in its home market of Egypt. Within the woven segment, international revenue rose 22%, driven by a 20% increase in volumes. Oriental Weavers also accelerated the collection of export subsidies, which had a positive effect on margins and cash flow.
CEO Hazem Al Zifzaf said the results had been achieved despite supply chain disruptions and raw material volatility stemming from the war between the US and Iran, as well as continued weak global demand and subdued consumer spending in Egypt.
