The Belgian carpet sector – including both area rugs and broadloom – showed stability in 2024, recording a turnover of EUR 1.25 billion, thus maintaining the previous year’s level despite a generally weakening market. This is according to the latest figures released by the Belgian Ministry of Economy (FOD Economie).
While other segments of the textile industry – such as woven fabrics (-8.1%) and knitted fabrics (-7.2%) – experienced significant losses, carpets proved comparatively resilient. In total, the textile industry posted a slight decline of 0.9%, with revenues reaching approximately EUR 5.02 billion in 2024.
