Sotheby’s: Museum-quality oriental carpets in London

The auction house Sotheby’s will host the "Arts of the Islamic World and India" sale in London on 29 April 2026. The auction features a highly curated selection of just six carpets, including two pieces from the prestigious Lewis and Susan Manilow collection. The first highlight is an Ottoman Cairene rug from the second half of the 16th century, notable for its elegant design of feathery saz leaves. The second significant lot is an Egyptian Mamluk rug dating back to the early 16th century, which features a sophisticated geometric arrangement with an octagonal medallion.
