The Bundesverband der Sachverständigen für orientalische, handgeknüpfte Teppiche und Flachgewebe (BSOT), the German federal association of experts on oriental hand-knotted rugs and flatweaves, held its annual general meeting in Hanover on 30 October and celebrated its 50th anniversary at the same time. The BSOT now operates internationally.
The BSOT is the umbrella organisation and representative body for publicly appointed and sworn experts on oriental rugs. Among other things, it enforces binding guidelines for experts, settles disputed questions in expert reports, advises the chambers of commerce on appointing new experts and represents common interests before state and federal authorities. The association also refers people to experts who value oriental rugs and prepare expert reports.
