XXXLutz invests EUR 25 million in Ludwigsburg

The Austrian XXXLutz Group is investing around EUR 25 million in the conversion and extension of the XXXLutz Mann Mobilia furniture store in Ludwigsburg (Germany), which opened in 1990. In the first construction phase, the four-storey building will be stripped and completely redesigned. Then, according to the company, work will begin on an extension which will increase the current sales area by 10,000 m² to 24,000 m².

Rippon Boswell: Carpet Auction Dates 2022

Rippon Boswell, the auction house specialised in the sale of special antique carpets, flatweaves and textiles, has announced its dates for 2022. As in previous years, three auctions are scheduled. On 19 March, the general carpet auction is to take place. Outstanding collector's items or special decorative antique rugs can be expected at the major spring auction on 28 May and major autumn auction on 26 November.

PAD strengthens sales team

PAD Home Design Concept is expanding its sales team: From 15 January, Claudia Welschoff has been supporting the northwest German team with Kerstin Brömmling and Lisa Beck. Welschoff's main area of responsibility is the expansion and stabilisation of strategic placements of seasonal collections in high-end specialist and retail stores. For the growing French market, PAD is sending Lisa Kuhlmann, a German-French national, on her travels; she will join the local sales team in February.

Indian sourcing digital fair especially for bulk buyers

The Indian export promotion agency for hand-woven textiles HEPC wants to organise a digital sourcing fair for home textiles, household textiles and floor coverings from 14 to 16 February. The fair is aimed at German and Belgian bulk buyers such as importers, wholesalers, buying associations or textile editors. Buyers can also arrange personal video meetings with exhibitors of their choice in advance. Interpreting services will be provided wherever necessary. Krieger Group now a member of Begros

The Krieger Group, which also includes Möbel Höffner, Möbel Kraft and Sconto, is now part of the purchasing association Begros. Membership had already been agreed on at the beginning of 2021 and presented to the Federal Cartel Office, which, after a thorough examination, has now given its approval. The requirement for this was that the two largest members undertake to continue to stock sufficiently different product ranges in the future in the event of joint procurement via Begros.

Salone del Mobile postponed to June

The 60th edition of the Milan Furniture Fair Salone del Mobile will be postponed from April to 7-12 June. The organisers have now announced. "The decision to postpone the fair will allow exhibitors, visitors, journalists and the entire international furnishing and design community to make the most of an event that promises a wealth of novelties in complete safety," said Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile. "Moving the event to June ensures a strong presence of foreign exhibitors and professionals, which has always been one of the Salone's strengths, and gives participating companies the opportunity to plan their presence at the fair as thoroughly as possible."

Heimtextil trade fair plans Summer Special in June

Heimtextil, leading international trade fair for home and contract textiles, will be held as a one-off Summer Special from 21 to 24 June, Messe Frankfurt has now announced. Techtextil and Texprocess, the respective leading trade fairs for technical textiles and nonwovens as well as for the processing of textile and flexible materials, will be held at the same time. The decision to hold a summer edition this year, the organisers added, was in response to the unequivocal vote of the home and contract textiles sector, which wants a re-start for face-to-face business meetings before the end of the year. Exhibitors and buyers also benefit from valuable synergy effects between the three international fair formats.

Winter Nordstil 2022 will take place

The Hamburg Senate has given green light for the Nordstil order platform from 15 to 17 January in Hamburg. The consent was given following last week's conference of Minister Presidents. Thus, Nordstil is now the second consumer goods fair to take place this year and one of the few platforms at the beginning of the year where products can be ordered.

XXXLutz buys Swiss furnishing chain LIPO

The XXXLutz Group continues its expansion in Europe with the purchase of the 23 LIPO furniture stores in Switzerland. This brings the number of XXXLutz-operated furniture stores to over 370 in currently 13 European countries. In addition, the company has 15 online shops.

Frankfurt consumer goods fairs cancelled

Messe Frankfurt has cancelled all consumer goods fairs planned for January and February, including Ambiente, Christmasworld, Paperworld and Creativeworld.
