Until 6 June, the exhibition "Raster 2" is still on at the Gebhart Blazek Gallery (Graz). Its focus is on the chessboard motif in Moroccan carpets of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The ancient pattern, which is present in almost all cultures, is particularly diversely interpreted in Morocca – in Berber rugs, for example, but also in those made by Arab Moroccan weavers. On more than 200 m2, "Raster 2" shows examples from around 1900 to the beginning of the 21st century, from strictly geometric designs in two colours to playful variations and complete deconstructions of the pattern in a wild rush of colour.
The exhibition is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. It is part of the Designmonat Graz („Graz's month of design“) event with numerous exhibitions, workshops and lectures.
