Deutsche Messe, organiser of the floor coverings fair Domotex, has been fighting till the very end for the event to take place from 13 to 16 January, now it has had to be cancelled. The increase of Corona virus infections led to further uncertainty and further exhibitor cancellations, said the organisers and pulled the ripcord at the end of November 2021. "Domotex is particularly affected by the impact of the Corona pandemic, as the vast majority of exhibitors and visitors come from abroad. In view of the current pandemic situation, international business travel is not expected to recover in the short term," said Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director Domotex.
The world's leading trade fair for floor coverings and area rugs was supposed to be relaunched in 2022. Most recently, the organisers had announced at a press conference at the end of October that the entire event was to take place in a "very compact form". Accordingly, Domotex would have taken place in three halls at the Hanover Exhibition Centre in 2022. Sonia Wedell-Castellano concluded: "What was considered a realistic and promising re-start scenario a month ago and was also well received by the market has proven to be no longer feasible in recent days."
Deutsche Messe is looking into a Domotex date later in the 2022 calendar year.
