Messe Frankfurt: Seifert succeeds Schwenzfeier

On 1 October 2021, Ivonne Seifert (42) took over as Head of Marketing Communications for the Textiles & Textile Technologies segment at Messe Frankfurt. Her responsibilities include the leading international trade fairs Heimtextil, Techtextil and Texprocess, the fashion fairs Neonyt and Val:ue as well as communicative support for international brand management with around 60 events worldwide in the entire value chain of the textile and fashion industry.

IHGF near Delhi in late October
The next IHGF will be held near Delhi in India as a physical event from 28 to 31 October. IHGF is an export platform for all things home, lifestyle, fashion, textiles and furniture. The venue is the India Expo Center & Mart in Noida near Delhi; over 1,500 exhibitors are expected, including Agni.

Supersalone (Milan): walls instead of stands

After a one-year break, Milan's Salone del Mobile is back with a special event, the Supersalone. In early September, 425 mainly Italian exhibitors were showing their creative ideas in four pavilions on almost 70,000 sqm; 70 international suppliers were also exhibiting at the show.

Consumer climate almost at pre-crisis level

Consumer sentiment is improving again, according to the September study conducted by the German market research institute GfK. On average, people are expecting higher incomes and are more inclined to consume, there is also a declining tendency to save. The consumer climate has thus reached its highest level in almost one and a half years. The employment situation is extremely stable; emerging discussions about inflation do not influence the mood significantly.

Luca Mozzati: Islamic Art

The Alhambra in Granada, the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Kerman vase carpets from Iran, the Taj Mahal in Agra: from southern Spain to Africa and Central Asia to India, from the 7th century to the present day, Islam has inspired works of art large and small. "Islamic Art" by Luca Mozzati shows works of art from the Islamic world from fourteen countries and three continents in over 400 illustrations. Luca Mozzati is an art historian specialising in the art of Central Asia. In the first part, he explains the underlying principles of Islamic art, architecture, writing and craftsmanship; the main section deals with the art history of various regions, dynasties and peoples. Islamic architecture around elaborately designed mosques and mausoleums plays the main role in this book, but carpets and other textiles also have their place. Detailed background information explains the large colour illustrations.

Dagmar Wolf worked for Deutsche Messe for eight years, most recently as Director Marketing & Communications. Her responsibilities included the "Floorcoverings & Woodworking" segment with the Domotex and Ligna trade fairs. Now Wolf is taking a new career path and handing over her responsibilities.

Home & Flooring Expo 2021: Digital trade fair focuses on exchange

SN-Verlag Hamburg will be holding its first digital trade fair from 2 to 5 November 2021 (Tuesday to Friday): Home & Flooring Expo is aimed at a professional audience from industry, retail, wholesale and craft trade. The premiere is a joint project of the five business magazines BTH Heimtex, FussbodenTechnik, Parkett Magazin, Haustex and Carpet Home – brought together under the SN-Home brand. In an interview, organiser Tim Steinert explains what visitors and exhibitors need to know about the new format.

Paulig opens flagship store in Munich

In September, hand weaving specialist Paulig opened its first flagship store. "Paulig since 1750" is located in a prime location right in the centre of Munich. An exclusive selection of hand-woven and hand-knotted rugs is presented on an area of approx. 200 sqm. The sales area is divided into different areas and shows the great variety of rugs, which are skilfully staged by high-quality lights. The flagship store is managed by Werner Rechenauer and his wife Katja Rechenauer.
