This winter, Ikea is testing a new shop concept in two German cities: Wolfsburg and Ravensburg. Ikea pop-ups are to open in busy shopping centres in city-centre locations. The first store will be ready on 1 November in the City-Galerie Wolfsburg; a second pop-up store will open in the Gänsbühl Center Ravensburg in early 2022.
"With our Ikea pop-ups, we are evaluating a new format that allows for quick on-site assistance and individual advice in a small space," explains Nele Bzdega, Expansion Manager for Ikea Germany. The new format is limited to a maximum of 18 months, during which the company aims to find out how the idea is received.
