Slow recovery in the furniture trade

The BBE Furniture Index only showed a single-digit minus in the first half of 2021 (-9.7 %). The decline in sales from the first quarter of 2021 has therefore already been significantly reduced. The strongest declines were recorded in the discount segment, but here, too, things are looking up: in May the minus was still -21.4 %, in June it was -16.7 %.

The BBE Furniture Index is published every month jointly and exclusively by BBE Handelsberatung München and the trade medium "Möbel Kultur". All types and sizes of businesses from various purchasing associations are represented among the companies surveyed; the focus is on full-range stores up to 10,000 m2 as well as specialist retail chains and smaller specialists.
